Eva Mendes Finally Opened Up About Having Kids With Ryan Gosling

Eva Mendes is living proof that you can totally have your mind set on not having children, and then change your mind later in life — and we're so glad she did.

It would be a crime not to carry on those genes!

Eva and Ryan have been together for eight years, and have managed to stay pretty low-key throughout.

For the first five years of their relationship, I had no idea they were even together.

Imagine my surprise when I found out Ryan Gosling was not on the market and hadn't been for quite some time.

They've kept their relationship extremely private, right from the beginning.

We don't even know how they met. They were just spotted together one time in 2011 and the rest is history.

They even make it a point not to attend red carpet events together.

But from what we have seen, they're adorable AF. I'm talking, possibly the most underrated celebrity couple of all time.

During an interview in 2015, Ryan gushed over Eva — restoring my faith in true love.

"She's the person I'm supposed to be with," he said adding, "there's nothing else I'm looking for."

I'm not crying, you're crying.

Anyway, fast forward to now — Eva spoke to Women's Health Magazine about how falling in love with Ryan changed her perspective on having kids entirely.

The couple have two daughters, four-year-old Esmeralda and two-year-old Amada.

And while motherhood has become the greatest joy in her life, it wasn't something she ever expected before she met her beau, Ryan.

She explained that having kids was the "furthest thing" from her mind.

Course, I don't blame her for changing her mind. It's Ryan Gosling — hello?!

Find me a woman who would object to having Ryan Gosling's babies. I'll wait.

Eva explained that falling in love with Ryan is what made her change her mind about having kids.

“Ryan Gosling happened… I mean, falling in love with him. Then it made sense for me to have… not kids, but his kids. It was very specific to him," she said.

So, it didn't change her mind about having children in general. But it did make her want to have children with him.

It simply took being with the right person to make her want to start a family.

Eva went on to reveal what it's like being a mother to two girls, and why she tries to shelter her kids from certain aspects of her career.

“What I try to emphasize is that I don’t let them see me put attention to how I dress," she said.

"They’ve never seen me get ready for something; they’ve never seen me at work," she said.

"Which is fine, for whoever wants to do it that way, but the way I keep it normal is by not letting them see me in these situations," she went on.

She said that she is completely okay with her children not viewing her as a celebrity, but instead, just "mom".

"I’m just Mom. And I’m more than happy to just be Mom," she said.

She's so happy to be a mom, that she's admitted to putting her career on the back burner for now.

“I felt a lack of ambition, if I can be honest. I feel more ambitious in the home right now than I do in the workplace," she explained.

After her brother passed away in April 2016, Ryan mentioned him in his Golden Globes acceptance speech.

And apparently, it made Eva fall even more in love with him, and make family her number one priority.

“It was like a dream. But really, what I heard was that he said my brother’s name. It was the most beautiful gesture," she said.

"And I had no idea Ryan was going to say it. Losing my brother was incredibly difficult," she added.

So, moral of the story is that kids may not be something you think the future holds for you, but sometimes all it takes is finding "the one" to change your mind.
