Pregnant Mom Kills Violent Intruder With AR-15 And Saves Husband's Life

Although our worst fears tend to vary, it likely wouldn't be surprising to hear how many people fear experiencing a home invasion above anything else.

While it's certainly unfortunate to discover our homes have been robbed during the night, this method at least suggests that the burglar is trying to avoid a violent confrontation. When someone is brazen enough to break into a home without caring whether its residents are present or not, it often seems that there's no limit to what they're capable of.

Unfortunately, one Florida family came face-to-face with that nightmarish reality before one woman's sudden act of courage.

Last Wednesday, two masked men broke into 34-year-old Jeremy King's home in Lithia, Florida.

As King told Bay News 9, they immediately held pistols on him. King said he didn't know them and didn't know why they were targeting him.

Before long, he would have his answer as the two demanded money.

As one of them grabbed King's 11-year-old daughter, he repeatedly explained that he didn't have anything for them.

As he said, "And they’re like, ‘Give me everything you got.’ It became real violent, real fast."

By that, King meant that one man started pistol whipping him while his accomplice kicked him in the head.

King's wife, who is eight months pregnant, peered out from a bedroom in the back of the house to find the source of the commotion.

One of the men spotted her and fired in her direction.

She wasn't hit, but doubled back to grab an AR-15 assault rifle, which she then use to return fire.

As King told Bay News 9, "When he came toward the back door in her line of sight, she clipped him."

Although she only fired one shot, it struck true and one of the intruders ran about 200 feet from the house before collapsing.

Deputies would later find this man dead in a nearby ditch. Authorities are still hunting for the remaining suspect.

King ended up suffering a concussion, a fractured eye socket, and a fractured sinus cavity.

Although he ended up needing 20 stitches and three staples in his head, he's acutely aware of how much worse the situation could have been if his wife hadn't intervened.

As he said, "Them guys came in with two normal pistols and my AR stopped it. Pretty much, she evened the playing field and kept them from killing me."
