While there are a number of educational benefits to technology, experts are warning parents about the dangers of too much screen time.

Obesity, behavioral issues, and a loss of social skills are just a few issues experts have connected to screen time in children.

When one mom noticed these patterns in her own children, she decided to "pull the plug" on screens in her home.

"...the screens apparently muted their creativity, caused grumpiness, fighting and whining," she said in a Facebook post.

She recently shared a viral photo of what happened a few weeks after her family's screen-free experiment.

The photo was taken on a Saturday morning and "not staged" according to Molly.

"A few Saturdays into our screen detox, my kids woke up one by one and saw my husband and I reading in bed. They grabbed their own books and joined us," she said in her Facebook post.

Molly also said that she's seen a clear improvement in her children's behavior and learning skills.

She said her one daughter has even grown five reading levels in seven months since they got rid of screens.

Molly's photo racked up thousands of shares and reactions on Facebook.

Many other parents also shared their own experiences with a "screen detox". While not all parents have completely eliminated screen time, even for those who cut back, they said they saw a difference in their kids.

However, not everyone is on board with this idea.

Some people thought having zero screen time was too extreme and that there are some benefits to educational shows and games.

Overall, though, it seems that a lot of parents are praising this idea.

Even if a full ban on screens wouldn't work for your family, many parents shared their experiences of cutting out one electronic or setting clear limits. You just have to find what works for your family.
