Mom Says Smoking Pot Daily Makes Her 'A Better Mom' In Viral Post

The idea of a "wine mom" or a parent who enjoys a drink once the kids are in bed has become fairly mainstream. One mom is speaking out and hoping to normalize her own preferred method of relaxing — taking a hit from a joint.

This mom's viral post about using cannabis has sparked a lot of discussion online from parents who also regularly smoke pot.

In Canada and parts of the United States, legalizing cannabis has changed people's perceptions of this substance.

Cannabis is now available in these locations for recreational use, and researchers are still discovering its medicinal purposes as well.

Even though, more places are decriminalizing or legalizing cannabis, there is still a stigma attached to using it, especially among women.

The stereotype of the "pot head" usually conjures up images of teenage boys experimenting with the drug.

However, one mom is speaking out and hoping to spread some awareness by saying that many moms use cannabis and shouldn't be judged for it.

Caitlin Fladager is a 25-year-old mom of two from Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada. On her Instagram account, Caitlin has been candid about her struggle with anxiety and mental health.

In a recent viral post, Caitlin opened up about how using cannabis has helped her anxiety and parenting skills.

"I have never been the most patient with my two kids. Weed makes me a better mom, as I get a good night sleep after I smoke. I wake up well rested, and with a more clear mind," she wrote in her Instagram post.

She also hopes to make smoking cannabis as normal as enjoying a glass of wine after putting the kids to bed.

"It’s okay to smoke instead of drink. I used to have a problem with drinking, and my behaviour that came along with that," she said.

Since her post has gone viral, many have chimed in agreeing with Caitlin's stance on using cannabis as a parent.

Many commenters agreed that smoking cannabis to relax after putting the kids to bed shouldn't be an issue.

Some thought her comparisons to alcohol were spot-on.

Experts maintain that both substances can pose negative side-effects, but addictive behavior and long-term consequences are usually associated with alcohol more than cannabis.

It's clear that Caitlin's post has sparked an important conversation online.

While most of the comments on the post supported her use of cannabis to help with her anxiety and parenting, there are still a number of misconceptions surrounding cannabis use, especially for women.
