Woman Convinces Guy On Tinder He Can’t Text Her Because They Have The Same Number

Tinder has truly made the world of dating easier, while simultaneously making it a vile cesspit of memes and bots. It does seem like the world of Tinder has become less about actually trying to meet anyone (whether it be for a genuine emotional connection or meaningless sex) and more about setting up the most meme-worthy profile to try and bid for the fake approbation of strangers. And, some of these attempts are actually pretty funny.

One girl took her Tinder game to a particularly bizarre level.

Han (pictured above) ended up matching with a guy, and the conversation naturally commenced. However, something happened which cause Han to decide that this guy really wasn't right for her, so she attempted to get out of the conversation.

Although, she didn't do this in a straightforward manner.

Rather, she did this in a manner so ridiculously convoluted, that it is amazing that it actually managed to pay off.

Who knows why people can't just say "I'm actually not interested in you like that," anymore. Instead, people jump through ridiculous hoops to get out of potential relationships for no good reason.

Han managed to convince her Tinder date that they had the same mobile number.

Yes, the loophole that Han decided to try and exploit to avoid texting and calling poor Patrick, was to try and convince him that the pair had the same mobile number.

Above, Patrick can be seen as being amazed at the fact that he's texting himself, when he... well, texts his own number!

The unfortunate guy grew slightly suspicious.

After putting in quite a bit of work to convince him that it was no joke, she puts a stop to his suspicions with the simple phrase, "how could I make this s**t up".

Well, quite easily apparently, although, the conversation was far from over.

Han goes on to explain how weird it is they have the same network as well!

What are the odds that they would both be on Sprint as well!? Good lord, it really is a modern miracle!

The whole thing ends on quite a somber note, with him simply saying, "I wish I could call you". Which does leave you wondering why she couldn't have just told him that she wasn't interested.

The story quickly went viral across the internet.

Han's tweet which detailed the screenshots quickly spread across the internet, having since received over 200,000 retweets, and over 850,000 likes.

However, the internet was quite divided over the story.

A lot of people found the story hilarious and were baffled by how a man could fall for such a bizarre line (which in fairness is ridiculous). However, there were a lot of people who were less than amused by the story, to say the least, and were just straight-up confused.

A lot of responses came from people wondering why she had employed such measures.

People were wondering why she simply hadn't explained that the wasn't interested, instead of weaving a narrative akin to something from a modern Shakespearian farce. Surely just being honest with him, like an adult, would be kinder, instead of leaving him potentially wondering how a mobile network could torpedo a potentially blossoming romance!

Some responses came in the forms of:

"Just say you're not interested ffs."

"I will honestly never understand why girls who are on tinder and match with guys but will dodge them when they try to talk. Girls confuse me too."

"I'm so confused?? Why are you even using tinder if this is what you're doing?"

The pair have apparently spoken again since the viral incident.

Just say you're not interested ffs.

Clearly he didn't find it as funny as she and half the internet did! Although, this would seem to prove that he really did fall for that insane excuse. Hopefully, seeing the error of his ways in hindsight, he won't be falling for this again any time soon!

It is also weird that she went through all of this to avoid texting him, then texted him anyway./

Who knows whether they ended up chatting further or not? Can you imagine if they did end up going out though, and this was the story of how they met? That would be fantastic!

Anyway, if you're still on Tinder, maybe take this as a warning not to fall for something so ludicrous! Also, by the same token, if you're on Tinder and you're not interested in someone, maybe just say so!
