Survey Confirms Moms And Dads Really Do Think Parenting While Hungover Is The Worst

Every mom and dad will tell you that parenting is the one job you can never, ever call in sick for. Parents power through colds and viruses to take care of their kids, and the same thing happens when that illness is self-induced from a night of drinks. Hangovers, I'm looking at you.

A new study has found the lengths parents will go to to avoid parenting hungover, and it might be worth considering if you have a party coming up.

A recent study has confirmed what many of us already know — trying to parent while hungover is a painful experience.

The study conducted by the C.S. Mott Children's Hospital National Poll on Children's Health at the University of Michigan surveyed 1170 parents about their alcohol consumption habits.

A whopping 64% of parents surveyed said they were very likely to make childcare arrangements for their children following an event when alcohol was served to give themselves some recovery time.

Basically, these parents know that nursing a hangover while trying to take care of their children is next to impossible.

Researchers found that while many parents will arrange for childcare during an event, fewer parents consider planning for the day after the event as well.

It's definitely worth considering if there's a chance you'll be too sick the day after to properly look after your children.

It might not be a bad idea to ask Grandma to keep the kids overnight this year when your office Christmas party rolls around.

Celebs like Anne Hathaway have opened up about how horrible hungover parenting can be.

The actress said she had quit drinking in an interview on Ellen following a hungover daycare drop-off.

"I wasn’t driving, but I was hungover—and that was enough for me," she said. "I didn’t love that one."

So let's be clear: Hangovers and parenting do not mix. Parents who plan on drinking need to plan for any potential hangovers as well.
