Julia Stiles Shares Her Favorite Heath Ledger Memory On Set Of '10 Things I Hate About You'

10 Things I Hate About You came out 20 years ago, which will probably make us all feel very old.

However, on any anniversary, actors talk about their favorite things and moments about the movies or shows they took part in. This movie is no different.

'10 Things I Hate About You' is a movie inspired by Shakespeare's 'Taming of The Shrew.'

Starring Julia Stiles and Heath Ledger, the movie was about a young man who takes part in a bet to win Stiles' heart.

Then they, of course, end up falling in love. The movie is a timeless classic, and beloved by all.

The movie is actually the one that put Heath Ledger right in the middle of Hollywood.

He quickly became a Hollywood hunk, and everyone wanted him to play in pretty much every romantic comedy that was coming out.

But he made sure that his resume didn't only include rom-coms.

In fact, Heath went on to have very a very impressive resume.

His most chilling performance, was, of course, his portrayal of The Joker in The Dark Knight.

He won an Oscar for the role, but unfortunately, passed away shortly after in the middle of filming another movie.

Fans everywhere were under the impression that 'The Dark Knight' was actually the film that drove him mad.

But the truth of it was, although he took things to the next level, he did not commit suicide or take drugs because of playing the Joker.

Heath died while filming 'The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus'.

Once he passed away, the script was tweaked to include Johnny Depp, Jude Law, and Colin Farrell to play the same role and be his 'transformations.'

It was the last film footage we have of Heath.

There were a lot of contributing factors to Ledger's death.

Christopher Plummer, who played the title character in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus shed some light in an interview shortly after he passed away, while doing press for the movie.

He explained that Heath was already quite sick before he died.

IMDb

"Heath did have a terrible, lingering bug in London, and he couldn’t sleep at all." he said. "We all — I thought he’d probably got walking pneumonia, which they seem to think he had."

Ledger, who was already having trouble sleeping and took pills to help with that, was also taking medication to help with his sickness.

Unfortunately, this resulted in Ledger suffering from cardiac arrest.

There was nothing people could do by the time they got to him.

On January 22nd 2008, Heath Ledger was found in his bed, unconscious.

The paramedics were unable to revive him, and his body was later removed from the apartment.

When the news hit Hollywood, people around the world mourned for the star.

But the star is constantly being celebrated by family, friends, and his fans.

People love his films, love watching old videos of him, and constantly recall their favorite Heath Ledger moments.

Julia Stiles is no different, as she dives into her favorite moment with the star.

So what was Julia Stiles' favorite memory of Heath Ledger while filming?

Remember that iconic scene where Ledger sings “I Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You” by Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons?

That little scene that ended up being the best part of the movie? That's her favorite memory.

Director Gil Junger had this to say about Heath Ledger's bubbly performance during the dance:

"I said to Heath, “Just run around the steps when the guards start to chase you.” Right after the first take, the nurse on set ran up to one of the guards."

He took it to a level that no one was really expecting of him.

"They were fearful he might have pushed himself almost to a heart attack. Heath was running with such joy that it physically exhausted the guards."

Julia Stiles was on Andy Cohen recently, where she talked about the movie 20 years later.

“My favorite memory of that day — the whole day, he was just phenomenal,” Stiles said.

That's not hard to imagine, considering Heath Ledger's ability to bring characters to the next level.

“I mean, like, running up and down those stadium steps and nobody knew that he had this amazing voice.”

“He just went full out and I got to watch it.”

Here's the video of her talking about the moment. Try not to get too emotional.
