Henry Cavill Dehydrated Himself For 3 Days For Shirtless 'Witcher' Scenes

Henry Cavill enjoys playing cool characters with strong morals. He has played demigods, aliens, and now, he's playing a fighter with magical skills.

But it takes a lot of work to become Geralt of Rivia. None of it was easy, but it seems to have paid off for Cavill.

'The Witcher' is all anyone can talk about right now.

Netflix

The show has taken over Netflix for its fantastic writing, amazing fight scenes, and glorious performances.

But it wasn't easy for Henry Cavill to achieve his massive bulk.

It's also not the first time that Cavill had to go above and beyond for a role.

Remember Man of Steel?

Cavill also had to go on the special superhero diet that he and dozens of other superhero actors have had to endure.

To become Superman, it was definitely not a walk in the park for Cavill.

“I’m training two-and-a-half hours a day, pushing my body beyond its normal limits, putting on a lot of muscle mass and just making myself look like Superman,” he said.

He even impressed himself.

"I did two months training on my own and four months training in LA with Mark, and that was excruciating – breaking boundaries I didn’t know I could."

But none of it was easy.

"I remember one moment, doing some horrible rowing sprint thing, and I said, ‘I can’t do this Mark, I can’t, I’m done,’ and he said, ‘No you’re not, don’t listen to the lies.’ I kept on pulling and pulling until suddenly I realised I had finished."

"And so, we all have a bit of fun doing it as well."

"For example, if Mike Levins, who’s the assistant trainer, Mark Twight, and myself are training, we’ll just do 10 reps of a weight and then someone drops out, they do 10, someone drops out, they do 10."

But don't worry, he does enjoy the occasional cheat day.

"I think I’m kind of finding my pace now in more of a lifestyle thing. Like, I can do this training and it’ll make me look a certain way. I’ll make sure my food is right, but I don’t feel like I’m on a diet all the time," said Cavill.

So now that Cavill had to go through the ringer again to achieve his bulk, he revisited his similar diet and workout routine.

It was actually a little bit worse this time!

That is, unless his process was used before. However, he never mentioned it during his Man of Steel press tour.

Cavill, who was on the 'Graham Norton Show' 'talked about his role on 'The Witcher' and what it took to get that ripped.

He actually dehydrated himself.

“Diet is difficult, and you’re hungry, but when you’re dehydrating for three days you get to the point, on the last day, where you can smell water nearby," he said.

“It’s not no water for three days,” he explained.

“On the first day you’ll have a litre and a half, the second day half a litre and the third day no water and you’ll shoot on the fourth [day].”

You can see the sheer shock and worry across the faces of Norton and the other guests on the show.

But Cavill seems okay with it, so that's good for him!
