Netflix's 'Klaus' Is Weirdly Connected To Batman

Oh lord... the cinematic universes are all spilling over into each other!

Next, we'll see Jay and Silent Bob at Hogwarts! The Bride from Kill Bill flying alongside Homer Simpson and Saruman in X-Wings! Spider-Man fighting alongside James Bond to take on Dracula and the guys from Hot Fuzz!

It's madness!

So there's this new movie about Santa Claus on Netflix...

Netflix

It's called Klaus, and it's about a terrible, terrible postman getting assigned to this terrible, terrible place up North where he finds a toymaker named Klaus.

Together they bring holiday cheer to children everywhere.

Christmas is over, Santa Claus officially doesn't matter for another year.

But wait! Before you put your cares away with your Christmas decorations, consider this: the movie Klaus has a small connection to Batman!

Eh, yeah, that's right, bring those cares out of the crawl space...

Director Sergio Pablos...

DC

Recently talked to Digital Spy about his desire to do a Santa Claus origin story.

And, about where he got the inspiration to do origin stories in the first place.

He said: "Batman Begins was a particularly poignant eye-opener."

Netflix

"It seemed like a great story-telling exercise to take an existing character and to come up with an origin story that felt contemporary. I went looking for historical or fictional characters that might lend themselves to this, and I never thought that search would take us to Santa Claus, but here we are."

Wild.
