Chris Hemsworth Donates $1 Million Towards Australian Wildfires: 'Every Penny Counts'

The wildfires that have been raging in Australia since September have caused immeasurable harm to the country and its inhabitants. Over 25 deaths have been confirmed as a result of the blaze and countless animals have been injured, killed, or forced to flee their habitats as they burn.

Celebrities from all over the world have raised awareness to this issue and pledged their own money to the cause.

The issue is extremely close to home for Australian born and/or raised celebs.

Nicole Kidman recently announced that she had donated $500k.

"Our family’s support, thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by the fires all over Australia. We are donating $500,000 to the Rural Fire Services who are all doing and giving so much right now," she captioned the photo.

Margot Robbie took to Instagram to share photos from her childhood, and how beautiful Australia was.

And while she didn't publicly state how much she would be donating, she encouraged her fans to help where they could.

Pink announced that she would be donating $500k to the local fire services.

"I am totally devastated watching what is happening in Australia right now with the horrific bushfires. I am pledging a donation of $500,000 directly to the local fire services that are battling so hard on the frontlines. My heart goes out to our friends and family in Oz," she wrote.

Elton John has recently pledged $1 million to fight Australian bushfires.

In a video shared to his Instagram, Chris said, "Hey there guys. As you’re well aware, the brush fires in Australia have caused massive devastation, they continue to burn. There's warmer weather on its way and we're still in the thick of it here."

"There's plenty of challenging times ahead," Chris said.

"What we need is your support and your donations. I’m going to put forward a million dollars and was hoping that all of you can contribute in any shape or form. That money goes directly to the firefighters, the people on the front lines, the people who have suffered, the communities that have taken a hit and who are in desperate need of our support," he continued.

In his caption on the video, Chris urged his followers again to donate.

"Every penny counts so whatever you can muster up is greatly appreciated," Chris wrote. "In my bio I've added links to support the fire fighters, organisations and charities who are working flat out to provide support and relief during this devastating and challenging time."

Chris' Instagram bio now links to this page, where you can easily access ways to donate to the cause.
