Kirsten Dunst Is Over Award Shows: 'It's Annoying That They Make You Care About It'

I love when celebrities are honest about the not-so-great aspects of celebrity life. Sure, it's nice to have money and power and influence and security but it can't all be glitz and glamor. There must be things that are annoying or boring or just plain crappy.

Kirsten Dunst is speaking out on something she doesn't like about being famous and I am definitely here for it.

Kirsten has been starring in *On Becoming A God In Central Florida* on Showtime.

On the show she plays Krystal, a water park employee who is determined to move up the ranks in a pyramid scheme called Founders American Merchandise. The show is a dark comedy, and Kirsten recently spoke to IndieWire about the experience.

Kirsten explained that she put her own anger into the character.

“I could put a lot of my rage into Krystal. She’s so instinctual in the way she acts. Her behaviour is all over the place because she just doesn’t care. I liked that I didn’t have to hide any of those feelings,” she said.

“I put in everything I had,” she added.

“People relate better to the character they’re watching. You want to see actors show all the ugliness and everything that they have inside of them. That’s what makes a character you want to watch and fight for," Kirsten continued.

It looks like that method paid off!

Kirsten's role in the show earned her a Golden Globe nomination, but she's not particularly into the concept of award shows.

“It’s annoying that they make you care about it. I’d be fine if there was none of this,” Kirsten responded when asked about the award show.

I respect that honesty!

Kirsten explained she used to like award shows but not anymore.

“When I was younger [on the red carpet] I’d be like ‘We’re all here together taking a picture for our movie. It’s so exciting.’ Now, I’m like ‘Oh, God, I’m gonna get criticized for every little piece of my hair, makeup, and outfit,” she explained.

I love that kind of honesty!

I can't even imagine the pressure of the red carpet at an award show, let alone the pressure of winning and having to give a speech (or losing and having to look gracious on camera).
