Icy The 'Ugliest Dog' Has Had Zero Adoption Applications Since Arriving At Shelter

A gentle shelter pup in Canada is eagerly awaiting the right family to look past his unusual appearance and see just how deserving of a loving furever home he really is.

Icy, a 5-year-old Cairn Terrier mix, has been at the Lincoln Humane Society in St. Catharines, Ontario, since the end of June, but despite his sunny disposition and sweet nature, shelter officials say he hasn't received a single adoption application.

The floofy, medium-sized pup was rescued as part of an an animal cruelty case in the area which is still under investigation.

In a Facebook post announcing his arrival, the shelter explained that the bug-eyed Icy is a "sponge for love" and adores a good belly rub, as well as lounging in people's laps. He'd never pass up a good ol' game of fetch, and is always down for playtime, once he opens up to you, of course.

Because of his background, the shelter says Icy requires "the safest home", after all the trauma he's experienced.

Understandably, it takes him a little while to trust new people, but once he's determined you've got nothing but love to give, he'll be your best friend and lay at your feet for hours.

His perfect home has all adults, no children, with only "kind and calm dogs" and owners who will be committed to training this deserving pup. He also has some medical concerns, so potential adopters must be able to continue his treatments.

While that first post gained plenty of online attention, the shelter says no one has reached out to apply to adopt Icy.

In a recent update alongside a video of the adorable pup playing outside, Lincoln County Humane encouraged people to share Icy's story so that more people can see him in the hopes of finding him his perfect home.

Kevin Strooband, who works at the shelter, said it's unusual not to receive any adoption applications for dogs.

He told iHeartRadio that there are usually people out there who want the so-called "ugliest" dogs in the shelter, and so he's urging those individuals to come forward and open their home to Icy.
