10+ Interesting Things About 'Lucifer' Star Lauren German Fans Didn't Know

Since first appearing as Chloe Decker on Lucifer, Lauren German has been quietly carving out a name for herself. In a very short time, this California native has become one of the most talked about stars on TV.

Lauren prides herself on her privacy and very little has been made public about her personal life.

That's what makes these 10+ interesting things about Lucifer star Lauren German fans didn't know all the more enticing!

1. Lauren is an amateur painter in her down time.

Lauren leans the way of an abstractionist or an impressionist painter.

Judging from her work on Instagram, she tends to work in pastels and prefers the use of dark tones with a few bright splashes of color contrast.

2. She has an incredibly playful relationship with her *Lucifer* co-star, Tom Ellis.

It's clear to see that Tom and Lauren have an incredibly close relationship, almost like brother and sister. Judging from the video, Lauren is not above playing practical jokes, either.

I also find it hilarious that she refers to him as "Muffin Top".

But as much Lauren likes to be silly, she cares for Tom deeply.

"Oh, he’s the best. I’ve been so lucky in my life with costars. Taylor and Jesse are still my very close friends, Monica is my best girlfriend, but Tom is the most lovely person. He’s so kind and giving. I love him."

3. Her dog Pepper is the star of her Instagram.

Pepper is a Belgian Malinois. A quick scroll will tell you everything you need to know about Lauren and the relationship she has with her best friend.

The pair are inseparable and even have been known to dress alike!

4. Lauren is a bit of an adrenaline junky.

In fact, there's picture of Lauren swimming beside two giant whale sharks!

In case you were wondering, whale sharks are the largest fish in the ocean and can grow to be up to 32m in length!

5. She's not afraid to get her hands dirty.

When Lauren was acting in Hostel II she did all of her own stunts.

I really can't speak more to that fact because I'm honestly too afraid to watch the movie, but it sounds both impressive and terrifying.

6. Lauren is a trained dancer.

Growing up, Lauren attended the Orange County High School of the Arts.

We haven't got the chance to see her break out any of those dance moves on Lucifer just yet, but who knows what the future might bring?

7. She appeared in two of the biggest romantic comedies of the early '00s.

Lauren's film debut was Down to You, starring Freddie Prinze Jr. and Julia Stiles.

She also starred opposite Shane West and Mandy Moore in the 2002 runaway hit A Walk to Remember.

8. Lauren actually trained with real police officers for her role on *Lucifer*.

Netflix

"Oh, there was a ton to learn. On Chicago Fire, I trained with firemen and paramedics, but on this, I went with detectives and I trained a bunch. So it’s very different. I mean, it’s first-responder stuff, but it’s very specific."

9. She says that Chloe has given her a new respect for mothers and first responders.

When asked how she felt about playing a single mother on Lucifer, Lauren replied:

"It’s great. It’s beautiful. I have more respect for moms than almost anything. What’s cool is, I have such respect for first responders and single mothers, and I’m kind of both. So it’s great."

10. Lauren can sing!

She actually has a beautiful voice, too! It looks like Tom Ellis might have some competition in the coming season of Lucifer. Maybe we'll get to see he and Chloe perform a duet?

I vote for "Sympathy For The Devil"!

11. She was a big reason that *Lucifer* was picked up for another season.

In a since deleted tweet, Lauren wrote:

“#Lucifans If you want a season 6 or more let it be heard. We love that you love #Lucifer your support on social media is cherished and important."

Lauren's tweet helped rally fans in support of the show! Thanks to her, we're getting a 6th season!

She concluded by saying "And if it’s only season 5… I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. We won’t let you down. But if you want more let everyone know.”

12. She gravitates toward diverse roles at every opportunity.

NBC

When asked what differs in her approach to playing a gay versus a straight character, Lauren replied

“I mean love is love and I personally would approach it no differently. I’ve played a few lesbians and I have gay and lesbian friends and I don’t think it’s really any different."

For Lauren, it's all about reading the emotions of the scene.

"It’s almost like asking a straight character ‘how do you play straight?’ You’re just attracted to what you’re attracted to. It’s really just playing whatever’s going on in the scene.”
