9+ Actors Rumored To Play The Next James Bond

Who will it be? This James Bond, that I did see. Can you help me guess this mystery? That's a Zoboomafoo reference for all you born past 2001.

There are a lot of movies people are excited about these days.

Cinema Blend

I'm talking Avengers: Endgame, I'm talking Detective Pikachu, I'm talking The Dead Don't Die.

It's going to be a good summer in 2019.

However, one that lingers on the minds of people is the James Bond series.

Or, more specifically, who will be the next person to play the prolific superspy.

Will they be British? Scottish? White? Black? A man or... dare I say it... a woman?

We know Daniel Craig is going to be Bond in "Bond25".

IMDb

(And possibly Bond26). But the world is for the young, man. Out with the old in with the new, as I always say. We want to know: who is the next 007?

One of the biggest contenders is Idris Elba.

Not only would Idris be taking big steps for the black community by being the first African-American Bond, but there are a lot of things pointing towards him getting the role.

At least two different producers have hinted at it.

One said in a leaked email "Idris should be the next Bond.” Another said that it was "about time" the iconic character was played by a minority actor to play the role.

But there are others besides Idris Elba.

For example, big-name actor Tom Hardy has been rumored to play the role.

Even Pierce Brosnan, an ex-Bond, thinks Tom Hardy would be a good fit. The exact quote is: “I think Tom Hardy could be a good Bond. I’d be happy to see him do it.”

Also, it could be Richard Madden.

Starring in BBC's Bodyguard helped the young Scottish actor gain acclaim towards the role.

After all, anyone who plays a British Army war veteran working in Royalty and Specialist Protection Branch of London's Metropolitan Police Service would be great for Scotland Yard.

However, Richard might like the idea of a female Bond.

He told Vogue: “If it was a good part. If it was an interesting part, a Bond Boy would be an interesting dynamic. Why not?”

How very progressive of you, Richard.

But who could be this female Bond?

People seem to think that this X-Files star would be perfect as James Bond. Or... Jamie Bond? Jenna Bond? Listen, I don't write these Jennifer Bond movies, I just write about them.

Here are some other options: First off, Benedict Cumberbatch

This young(ish) British actor is sharp, he's witty and he's been in his fair share of action films.

And franchises, now that Dr. Strange comes to mind.

He's also used to playing British literary characters, such as Sherlock Holmes.

Tom Hiddleston

I'm sure a lot of us would love, just love to see Loki as Bond, but there are a couple of factors why he may not.

He's already done spy movies, he might not want to commit to such a role and apparently, Bond producer Barbara Broccoli said that he's "too posh".

Harry Styles

This guy's acting career just started with Dunkirk, so I don't think they'd entrust the role to someone so green. Then again, he has mass sex appeal amongst One Direction fans...

Henry Cavill

Superman? As Bond?

Maybe, considering the guy has two spy movies under his utility belt already: The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and Mission: Impossible – Fallout.

Yes I know Superman doesn't have a utility belt, just try and get past it.

Charlize Theron

Now, while Gillian Anderson is a decent pick, this is who I think should be the next female Bond. Classy, sexy, but still able to kick a lot of butt (see: Mad Max: Fury Road and Atomic Blonde).

Who do you think should be the next James Bond?

Giphy

Should it be Idris? Tom? Perhaps even... a different Tom?

Or maybe it should be a certain Diply writer... one with class, a hint of danger, a sauve yet rugged look to them... What? No, not Taylor Sakellis Ugh... It's always about her!
