Woman Makes 'Absolutely Disgusting' Discovery In Freshly Bought Salad

A shopper in Wisconsin won't be eating salad again anytime soon after making what she called an "absolutely disgusting" discovery while preparing dinner one night.

Karlie Allen says that she and her family had just gotten home from the grocery store and were putting dinner together when they made the discovery, WTMJ-TV reported.

"I'm across the room and I hear a shriek and a thud," Karlie recalled.

Inside a sealed box of salad, she could quite clearly see a little frog. "Holy moly this is happening," she recalled thinking.

Karlie grabbed her phone and started recording the little frog inside her salad.

"I'm thinking one, how the heck did that get in there, and two, that is absolutely disgusting."

She intended to return both the salad and the frog to the store the next day, but somehow it escaped in the night. "It's perched on an outlet by our kitchen counter," she said.

They ended up letting the frog go, but Karlie did return the lettuce since she had the video to back her story up.

The store provided a full refund, but Karlie sitll has questions.

"I just want to know how somebody didn't notice it or how it even managed to get through the packaging process alive," she said.

The company that made the salad, Simple Truth sent her a direct message to apologize after word of the frog reached them.

A spokesperson for the supermarket's parent company also made a statement, saying that "These situations happen from time to time when Organic products are involved. USDA Certified Organic items must be free of synthetic additives and certain pesticides. Although rare, from time-to-time we do see insects and other small animals such as frogs make it through packaging with fresh produce items."

It seems that the frog has turned Karlie off of salads for the time being.

Oh hello, Ohio

"This is in a box of lettuce that's supposed to be triple washed and organic and healthy," she said.
