Brilliant Hack Shows Us That We Can Throw Away Those Potato Peelers For Good

Who here is a potato lover? That's definitely me, ha, ha! I actually grew up eating meat, potatoes, and veggies — and that's what I like.

However, one thing I do dread is peeling the potatoes. I do use a peeler, but I always end up nicking my nails somehow. That's so annoying. Am I right, ladies? But what if I told you there was a food hack for that? Oh, yes, aha! Check this out.

Let me ask you.

What's your favorite potato dish? Oh my! There are so many I love. But I guess if I had to narrow it down, it would be french fries. However, a good boiled potato is a close second.

Speaking of boiled potatoes, I cook those at least a few times a week.

As you can imagine, I use my potato peeler a lot. It's easy enough, but it does get a little tricky. So if there's a way to avoid it, I'm all for it.

That's why I was thrilled when I heard about this food hack.

Get this — it promises that you won't need your potato peeler at all. What? Ha, ha! Sign me up. Okay, let's find out what this is all about.

So here's what you do before you boil the potatoes.

Grab a sharp knife and pierce the skin of the potato in the middle. Cut all around the whole potato skin but don't cut the flesh, just the skin. Get it?

I was a little confused when I read this, too.

But hear me out. Just pierce the skin and cut the potato all around. You can do this quickly by twirling the potato around with one hand while keeping the knife steady in the other.

Don't worry.

You don't need some chef knife skills. This method is totally doable, even if you're a novice. Trust me. I was a little hesitant at first, but once you try it a few times, I'm sure you'll be fine.

Now, just boil the potatoes as you would normally do.

Then when they're done, wait for them to cool off slightly so you can handle them, or wear gloves. Then grab the potato with one hand and pull the skin off.

And voilà! The skin just comes off like that.

Can you believe that? I mean, how is it that I've been cooking potatoes for many years and I haven't thought of that? My mind is totally blown after seeing this cool kitchen hack.

Oh my goodness. Did you know about this hack?

How did I go so long without figuring this out, I will never know, ha, ha! But now that I do know this, I'm so eager to toss my potato peeler for good.

Do you think this is easier than doing it the old-fashioned way? Apparently, the potato gets infused with more flavor that way, too.
