This Gate Agent Actually Managed To Get Angry Delayed Passengers Smiling

If there's anything worse than a flight delay, it's when the already-delayed flight gets delayed again. Seeing that expected departure time get farther and farther away just reinforces how little control anyone seems to have, and how all you can really do is sit and wait for your opportunity to get into a smaller, more enclosed space to sit and wait some more.

That's the moment any distraction can be welcome, but one that actually takes your attention away from the amount of time you're waiting is downright amazing.

One passenger had nothing but kudos for a gate agent who managed to do just that, and do it in style.

Kristen Dundas was just headed for quick jaunt up to Washington, DC from Florida on Southwest Airlines when her flight was terribly delayed.

That quick jaunt soon turned into three hours in the terminal, waiting.

Like any of us would be, Kristen says she was "getting HEATED" over the delay — until a gate agent decided to entertain his captive audience.

The unnamed agent started out with a "who's got the worst driver's license picture" contest, followed by a paper plane contest, with the winners receiving $25 gift certificates and some Southwest merch.

And it wasn't just Kristen's spirits that were lifted by the gate agent's improvised game show act.

She told CNN that despite the three-hour delay, passengers clapped and cheered for the agent when it was finally time to leave. She said that although she didn't take part in the games, she still thought it was "awesome."

"Once he started playing games, I was laughing and having a great time and didn't even mind that the flight was delayed."

After Kristen posted her video on Twitter, Southwest reached out to her.

The airline says it's been trying to emphasize keeping traveling fun. "This video is another example of how we are encouraging our employees to have fun with our customers," Southwest rep Dan Landson told USA Today. "The customer service agent in the video is known for putting a smile on our customers' faces by playing games in the gate area while making travel fun and enjoyable for everyone."
