3-Year-Old Girl's Adorable Lemonade Stand Raises $700 For Police K-9 Unit

There are a lot of ways to refresh ourselves on a hot day, but lemonade is an ice cold classic. It's also pretty much the only way to actually make use of a whole bag of lemons should you somehow end up with one.

But if anything gives us fonder memories for our recently departed summer than making lemonade for ourselves, it's getting it from either an adorably happy or an adorably serious-looking kid with a makeshift stand.

But while a successful lemonade stand might help your average kid afford a new bike or some video games, one Wisconsin girl had a different purpose in mind for hers.

Considering what heights 3-year-old Lainie Stephens' lemonade stand would reach, the reason it began seems almost quaint.

As CNN reported, her mother Molly was hosting a three-day yard sale in Germantown, Wisconsin and needed a way to keep Lainie occupied during the day.

So she decided that a lemonade stand would be a good learning opportunity.

Although the proceeds were always going to go to the Germantown Police Department's community funded K9 Unit, Molly figured the stand would raise maybe $40.

Those expectations changed, however, when the chief of police stopped by and this photo of him and Lainie ended up on the police department's Facebook page.

Before the weekend was out, people from clear across town were visiting the stand and some pledged up to $50 to the cause.

And as each visitor approached, Lainie would run up to greet them with some lemonade and puppy chow for them to enjoy.

It should be clarified that by puppy chow, she meant a sweet midwestern snack that looks like this.

As hilarious and thematically appropriate is it may be, Lainie wasn't actually trying to feed people dog food.

By the time it was all said and done, Lainie's stand raised $754.

According to CNN, she hand-delivered the money to the Germantown Police Department, where it will help pay for another K-9 crew and squad car.
