Touching Moment Homeless Man Reunites With His Missing Dog

A missing pet is devastating, but it's made all the more devastating when that four-legged friend is just about all that you really have.

Anthony Rogers is an artist from Tennessee who has been dealt some pretty bad cards in life and is now homeless. But although he may not have much, he does have one thing that keeps him going: his faithful friend and loyal companion, Bobo.

Recently Rogers found himself inexplicably without his sidekick when Bobo went missing.

Devastated, he made "missing dog" flyers and plastered them up all around town in the hopes that someone, anyone, would see them and recognize the smiling doggy face on the paper.

But as his search continued, Rogers began to fear that his sweet pup may be gone from his life for good.

However, hope was not entirely lost.

Last week, an employee at Memphis Animal Services saw the flyer and then saw a dog be brought into the shelter that bore a striking resemblance to the missing pup.

There was only one way to be absolutely certain though, and Rogers was brought in to see if they had, indeed, found his dear friend.

The moment the dog laid eyes on Rogers, everyone knew this was definitely Bobo.

The heartwarming reunion was all caught on video as a visibly ecstatic Bobo rushes to jump into Rogers' arms, leaping all over him and licking his face as the pair were finally reunited.

Shelter spokesperson Katie Pemberton said it was amazing to "see such unfiltered, unrestrained joy."

"I think we all felt really lucky to be able to witness it," she told The Dodo. "Working in animal sheltering can be very difficult emotionally, so seeing something so happy is like gas in the tank for us."

And the shelter made sure they took good care of Bobo while he was under their care.

"Bobo got neutered, microchipped and vaccinated, and we found he was heartworm negative," Memphis Animal Services wrote on Facebook. "We sent him back to Anthony with a years' supply of heartworm prevention, a bag of dog food, and a harness, leash, collar and ID tag."

They added, "Bob is healthy and happy."

The video that was posted on Facebook quickly went viral, racking up over 100,000 views from users who were all touched by the sweet reunion.

In fact, people were so invested in Bobo and Rogers that they sent numerous inquiries to the shelter regarding the pair's wellbeing, ultimately leading to a GoFundMe being established for them.

As of posting, it has raised nearly $3,000 of its $10,000 goal. The shelter emphasizes that all donations will go towards Rogers' living expenses.
