No, The Next James Bond Shouldn't Be A Woman Because Women Deserve Better Than That

With Daniel Craig's last James Bond movie set to hit theaters next month, everyone and their brother is wondering who will take over the coveted role. It's not for the faint of heart, that's for sure. Being James Bond is basically like being the president — it's a time-honored tradition that comes with a lot of expectations!

Okay, maybe that comparison was a little dramatic, but hey — it's not totally wrong!

Rumors have been swirling for years now about who will be the next James Bond.

While I personally have my sights set on Idris Elba as the only suitable choice, I know studs like Henry Cavill and Charlie Hunnam have also been gossiped about.

But please, forget what I said about those two and join my Idris Elba train!

For a while, there was even rumors that the next 007 would be a woman.

Daniel Craig recently shut the idea down, essentially saying that there should just be better roles for women, especially women of color, so that there wouldn't be a need for a female James Bond.

And look, I've got to say I totally agree with him.

We've seen what happens when women remake or reimagine roles that originally starred men — they don't go over well.

Whether that's because people are so opposed to the idea it before ever seeing it, or people feel bored by the concept, it's clear this is not the recipe for success!

Women deserve roles that are made just for them. Women deserve to be the stars of intricate, EXPENSIVE badass movies.

Women deserve to have a seat at the table with big players like James Bond. Women deserve better than a watered-down version of a beloved icon.

Simply put, women, especially women of color, deserve way more than just remaking a classic but with the genders switched.

We have our own stories to tell, and our own journeys to embark on. It would be so much more powerful to see a production company put all their eggs in a badass woman's basket, rather than just use them to replace a male character.
